Job Overview

A leading Fire Protection Company is seeking an accomplished Sales Consultant for a client in the fire prevention industry. The role centers on driving sales growth by implementing strategic initiatives, building networks, responding to leads, and managing client relationships to achieve sales targets across local, regional, and African markets. The ideal candidate is a seasoned sales professional with a strong track record, preferably in fire prevention or technical sectors, who excels in fostering client loyalty and delivering measurable results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate market opportunities to secure leads by building relationships with key stakeholders and initiating sales discussions to expand market presence.
  • Achieve sales targets by identifying leads, engaging decision-makers, preparing and submitting tenders, quotes, and budget proposals, and closing sales within set deadlines.
  • Conduct sales negotiations, presenting competitive advantages, addressing client concerns, and building trust to maintain mutually beneficial relationships.
  • Retain existing clients through regular contact, understanding their needs, and providing expert advice on fire prevention solutions to ensure loyalty.
  • Manage client expectations by aligning offerings with priorities, addressing challenges proactively, and communicating issues promptly.
  • Maintain client relationships through meetings, discussing past sales, understanding business needs, and proposing tailored solutions.
  • Resolve client complaints and queries by investigating issues, collaborating with internal teams, and providing timely feedback within agreed timelines.
  • Report monthly on client issues and feedback, collecting and documenting insights to inform service improvements.
  • Address after-sales support needs, resolving issues efficiently and providing feedback within deadlines.
  • Complete sales administration tasks, updating CRM systems daily, processing sales documentation, and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
  • Prepare sales documentation (e.g., tenders, quotes) by gathering information, coordinating with estimations and operations teams, and submitting before client deadlines.
  • Manage the payment cycle for sales, following invoicing procedures, tracking payments, and ensuring timely invoicing.
  • Compile and submit sales reports, collating performance data and adhering to defined standards and deadlines.

Requirements

  • Qualifications: An NQF 5 qualification in Sales, Marketing, or a related field is preferred. Candidates without a relevant qualification but with 4-6 years of equivalent sales experience will be considered.
  • Experience: 4-6 years of sales experience with a proven track record, ideally in the fire prevention industry or similar technical fields (e.g., safety, engineering, or built environment).
  • Availability: Must be flexible to work evenings or weekends for client meetings, networking events, or regional/African travel as needed.
  • Restrictions: Candidates must have no restriction of trade.

Skills and Competencies

  • Expertise in customer management, building trust and ensuring client satisfaction.
  • Proficiency in technical sales, with the ability to articulate fire prevention solutions effectively.
  • Strong negotiation skills to secure contracts while balancing profitability and client needs.
  • Competence in sales administration, including daily CRM updates and documentation accuracy.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication for client engagements, presentations, and reporting.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet tight deadlines in a target-driven environment.
  • Proactive problem-solving to address client queries and resolve issues swiftly.
  • Collaborative approach, working effectively with internal teams and mentoring junior staff.
  • Awareness of health and safety protocols during client site visits.
  • Basic financial acumen to manage pricing, invoicing, and sales performance analysis.

  • Maintain a client retention rate of at least 80% through effective relationship management.
  • Convert at least 30% of sales leads into confirmed contracts.
  • Ensure all sales documentation and CRM updates are completed accurately and on time.
  • Deliver monthly client feedback reports to support continuous improvement.

Working Hours

  • Standard Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:00–17:00
  • Additional Hours: Occasional evenings and weekends for client meetings, networking events, or regional/African travel as required.
