Education and Experience

Key responsibilities:

  • Daily maintenance checks on injection moulding machines, decorating and services equipment.
  • Diagnosing and solving mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and other faults
  • Solving barrel heater temperature faults
  • Attending to oil leaks
  • Stripping injection screws and assessing screw tips, check rings, etc
  • Diagnosing pump faults and failures
  • Replacing pumps
  • Testing motors and diagnosing faults
  • Replacing motors, circuit breakers, etc
  • Diagnosing hydraulic and electronic valve faults and failures, and solving them
  • Inspecting tie bars for damage or failure. Stripping tie bars, tie bar nuts, and installing them.
  • Inspecting toggles and attending to wear, lubrication, etc. Stripping and installation of toggles when necessary.
  • Carrying out lubrication on all necessary points according to recommended intervals
  • Inspecting linear bearings and rails on all moving parts. Ability to strip, replace and install linear bearings and rails.
  • Attending to transducer faults. Repairing or replacing transducers
  • Attending to safety circuit faults. Inspecting door switches and other safety switches and repairing/replacing them
  • Stripping ejector plates and/or ejector cylinders
  • Replacing seals on cylinders
  • Diagnose sensor faults and resolving issues with sensors
  • Maintenance and repairs on service equipment, like cooling towers, chillers and compressors
  • Replacing water pipes, fittings, clamps, etc

  • Completion of 7 similar projects in bulk water infrastructure.

Key responsibilities:

  • Mould maintenance, repairs, modifications, etc – Planned and breakdown. Once a mould is completed, to be present during start up at the machine to ensure mould runs as required, and quality is accepted and passed by QC
  • Tool inspections during production runs. These include:
  • Stopping machine to clean shut-off faces
  • Check wear pad screws and shims
  • Check screws on stripper plate
  • Check screws on tamper slides, handle holes slides and any other moving parts
  • Inspect ejector coupling
  • Inspect contact area between machine nozzle and mould sprue bush for any leaks
  • Ensure mould temperature control box is working properly and set correctly
  • Grease wear pads and guide pins, and any other moving parts necessary
  • Check and update date stamp
  • Tool maintenance between production runs.
