Role Overview:

Our client, is seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer (Building Services) to design and develop mechanical systems for exciting building projects, focusing on HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection.

This Position is based in: Quatre Bornes, Plaines Wilhems District, Mauritius

Candidate must be flexible to work odd hours when required and hold a valid driver’s license and be a Mauritian citizen.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection) for various building projects.
  • Coordinate with architects, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Integrate energy-efficient and sustainable practices to optimize energy usage and environmental impact.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (electrical, structural, environmental engineers) for holistic solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Present concepts and solutions clearly to clients, simplifying complex ideas.

Secondary Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical support during project implementation.
  • Conduct quality checks and ensure designs align with project specifications.
  • Assist in preparing reports and documentation for project milestones.
  • Support training or mentoring of junior staff as needed.

  • Maintain accurate project documentation and design records.
  • Achieve client satisfaction through effective communication and innovative solutions.
  • Ensure sustainable design practices are consistently applied.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong expertise in HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection design.
  • Creative problem-solving and a focus on sustainable engineering.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD) is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication, project management, and teamwork skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and health and safety practices.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or Building Services Engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role within building services or mechanical consultancy.
  • Professional registration with CRPE is an advantage.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Flexible to work odd hours when required.

Remuneration:
Rs30,000 – Rs60,000 (Basic Salary + Car Allowance + Travelling Allowance, depending on experience).
